This will be our first concert with a specially designed stage-set by Henning Wagenbreth. Yes sir, that's the guy who made our poster, artwork for "Take Off!" and the upcoming "BUM BUM".
November 5th - Zagreb, Tvornica
Our debut in Croatia, we are looking forward to it!
It's the third time and we are bringing a lot of new music (and faces).
Something very nice to announce:
We have a new management and booking agent. Welcome to the family Max! He will be representing us from now on and you can have a look at his page here: soniq performing arts
Last, but not least - *cough* *cough*... ANOTHER Album-Release-Delay!!!
Why the hell does it take so long to compose music for 20+ people, record it all in endless overdubsessions, sort out thousands of takes, cut it in to million pieces, put it back together and move around 200+ tracks per song, try some shit, fail, try, fail, try, fail, try, premix it, fail, try, fail, try, fail, try, mix it and master it? (more fail and try to come)
Well - it's been quite a (painful and interesting) ride so far and it didn't make sense to rush and get hectical in the final quarter of what has been almost two years of recording and producing. We're almost finished with the mixing and the album will surely come out early 2012. Promise!
Sorry to keep you waiting, as soon as I have the master tapes, I will upload some previews...
This is going to be an experiment with music from AMEO and up to 100 people playing a simultaneous interactive game with speakersystems created by the Streetgames-Crew. This will take around an hour and we will play four of our pieces outside at the AOK-Parking Lot, Stresemannstraße.
Our first show with our complete new program. We'll come with a lot of new material and play some pieces from our first album in slightly and insanely new arrangements. Around 500 people can attend this concert, so bring your whole family!
The legendary barn in a Bavarian town run by idealistic music lovers. Should be another fun gig with warm acoustics inside this beautiful wooden place!
Our full-show-program in Berlin in a nostalgic, abandoned factory in Wedding which has already been bought by an investor and will turn into whatever very soon. Places like this are vanishing so quickly now in this city - time to say goodbye to old Berlin? Let's celebrate anyway!
This is an atmospheric concert hall, sort of a club-amphitheater which should be perfect to get a good view on the whole orchestra. This concert will be recorded by Radio Bremen and broadcasted later on.
HOPE TO SEE YOU! GOOD TIMES!

Dear readers,
there has been a significant and unexpected change in the band lately.
As a lot of organisational things didn't work out as planned I came to reflect deeply about the future of this band and investigated the problems this big independent group is encountering in its pursuit of playing truthful music in this world.
I came to the conclusion that we can continue this path - but only with a group of people who have the same ideals and musical visions. The musical progress of the orchestra was not satisfying for me in the last year. The concerts went well, the band-atmosphere was friendly and relaxed and the audience was pleased - but I didn't feel the spiritual desire to go further than that.
That's why I came to the conclusion to change up the crew. We thought about characters who would make things spark and we're happy that all of them are taking their time and energy to join our group and make some new music. Some of them have already been working with us and I'd like to welcome them here aswell:
The band got a little smaller, we're 18 instead 20 musicians now. Check the Info-Section for the full bandlist.
It was a very tough decision to pull this through as we had been playing for five years in the same constellation and grew close together. I would like to thank our fellow astronauts who have contributed so much to this band. I'm sure you will hear of them in their own projects and I hope our paths will cross again!
Furthermore the release of our second album has been postponed. "BUM BUM" will appear in stores in November this year.
Until then catch the new band live in June and September. Dates are up!
Looking forward to the new music,
daniel

Dear readers,
the Andromeda Mega Express Orchestra is currently taking a small winterbreak and will return to play in the summer this year. We will release our second album "BUM BUM" and go on tour then. Shows in Europe are being planned at the moment for June and July... In September we will play in South America for three weeks, thanks to the Goethe Institut. In late October and the beginning of November we will tour again in Europe for about two weeks...
Right now, I'm heavily editing the new album and it will probably take another month to complete. The basic idea is to deconstruct the orchestra's music into its basic elements (recording almost every single musician in overdubs) and to put all of this together again afterwards and have the freedom to mess around with it in the process of post-production.
Most of the pieces already have about 150 tracks and I've cut them into million pieces - there will be at least 60 minutes of music on the new album and I've finished about 5 until now. Oh Lord...
I'm very curious how everything will turn out. Today is the first day of mixing some of this...
I'll post some more when I have something worthwhile and I hope to announce some good gigs aswell 8)

Hello,
we just had a very good week playing in Frankfurt, Munich and Würzburg. Musically it made a lot of sense working on stuff everyday and playing it in the evening. I hope I'll find some time to cut together some of the video-footage we have made during these concerts... We got a number of press-articles this summer which have been linked in our Electronic Presskit-Section.
Übrigens! The Potsdam-concert on September 9th moved across the street - it's not at Waschhaus anymore but at Reithalle (click here)!
And our next show in Berlin is coming up!
On September 11th we are going to play inside the big pool of Stattbad Wedding.
The first set will be played by the "Think Bigger Orchestra" from Austria at 9pm and we will play the second set around 10.30pm. The place is very inspiring and there will be a party afterwards on the terace and in other parts of this cool retro-facility... The last time an orchestra played in the pool it looked like this:
We will light candles and blow bubbles. I hope for a beautiful late-summer evening in Berlin.

Munich we are coming! We will be playing every night from August 3rd - 7th in Jazzclub Unterfahrt, just like Jazz-Bands used to do in the very good old days... A week-long ecstatic party in the basement of Alfred Einstein!
Würzburg on August 8th will be open-air and Frankfurt on August 1st starts at 11am already!
In June we were invited by the Goethe-Institute to play in Almaty, Kazachstan - thank you for a wonderful trip. We strongly recommend to go the steppe and listen to the Dombraz! Here's also a short clip from Kazach TV:

Hi everyone :/
:/ because I feel bad for not updating this site for such a long time. Sorry for the delay!
I've been thinking about the next album a lot and I'm afraid I can't follow up with the preview-tracks I promised in the last post.
For almost a year I was searching for a direction for the next album and now it's finally beginning to take shape. It looks like 4-5 new pieces we have been learning and playing since the last summer will not make it. The material is just too diverse.
We were working on this 20-minute Mafia-Sondtrack-Epos called "The Job"...
an even longer 50-minute-Trance inspired by an August-trip to Morocco...
We also took a shot at some music of Thelonius Monk which turned out to sound something like a Robert-Crumb-Cartoon.
All of this will have to wait patiently to be released in a hundred years or so 8(!
But the good news is that there's more urgent stuff which we are working on right now.
We're playing quite a lot of shows this year and we are also starting to film our projects.
Anything brilliant will be uploaded here for sure.
And please be reminded that there's a gorgeous LP out! It sounds so much better than digitalized. And the artwork by Henning Wagenbreth is so cool - there's even a poster inside. Our label Alien Transistor is selling it for €14 apiece. Go and consume!!!
OH MY GOSH!!! SO COOL!!!
Hope to see you very soon!

In the end of October we recorded a couple of tracks we had been playing in the summer and fall. We're slowly gathering new material for further albums and we will soon show a preview of three of these tunes. A new album will come out in the Winter 2010/11 at the earliest, so everyone who's interested can have a listen to what we're fooling around with right now... Expect an update of our myspace-site soon...
In the meantime there are some things we would like to share with you... looking back on the last half of this year:
First of all - I've put up a little text about my personal view on our band and its influences...
This is a video of our performance at JazzBaltica (Jul 4). Bad sound-mix but a nice take!
This is a drawing by Sophia Martineck from our Berlin-Show (Oct 30) before our recording session.
And these are photos from our London-Concert with The Notwist (Dec 12).
Sooooooo... to wrap things up - Thanks to everyone who supported and listened to us in 2009! We had so many wonderful concerts this year. Gracias! Really looking forward to more.
And if you buy Christmas-presents very late and don't have a clue what to get (like me) - I recommend the vinyl of our album "Take Off!" ;)
See you soon - cordialement

The Vinyl of "Take Off!" is now available, too. It looks and sounds even better than the CD in my oppinion and there's a big poster inside! You can order one at Alien Transistor for example...
I also got to update the Pictures-Section and there are lots of nice photos from our concerts to check out...
There are also some new concert-dates for this year... In late October we will pre-record some stuff in the studio again - looking into the possibilites of putting out our next album in 2010...
If you're interested you can also check out a lot of reviews and press feedback we got from our album-release in the Electronic Presskit-Section.
As you can see in the Contact-Section, we're happy that Powerline Agency is taking charge of our booking now and Flo Steinleitner, who is the manager of The Notwist, is gradually increasing his organisational work for us - bringing in all of his expertise and experience.
The future is looking bright! :)

OK, so here's my thorough post on the new album!
In the end of November 2008 we spent three days in the best sounding room I have heard in my life - Saal 1, Nalepastraße in Berlin. We bought and rented a bunch of bizarre lamps and recorded in outer space atmosphere.
Then I obsessively mixed the material with our engineer Martin Ruch for several weeks in all kinds of studios and also did some overdubs with melodicas. Eventually I went to Abbey Road to master the whole thing and now the recording is waiting to be released (May 8th!).
It's a good blend of old and new material from our first 3 years of playing together but I always thought a lot about the album during those years - so it's a mix of documentation of our different styles aswell as an album with a compositional concept.
Henning Wagenbreth did the artwork for us and he designed a marvelous 20-page-booklet which is a Space-Road-Movie in which the orchestra travels through outer space!
I'm really happy that we got the best conditions to bring out this album and a lot of credit goes to our label Alien Transistor. They simply trusted us and supported our demands. As a reward we got a federal grant from "Initiative Musik" and they are a big help for the album and our release-tour.
Please check out our schedule and come to one of our concerts. Although I've put so much work in the recording I still think that it's most important to celebrate together.

Digesting this very busy and fantastic last year... I will make a more thorough post on our new album in the following weeks. For now I'd just like to point out that on the 8th of May our Debut-CD Take Off! will be released on Alien Transistor and I'm really satisfied with the result (which is not normal).
I've also put up some new dates for concerts and I will keep at least that section more up-to-date,
I promise!!

We're back from our tours in Europe and South Korea!
What a joy to travel around the world with 20 friends and play music for enthusiastic audiences. Check out the new pictures and sounds from our trips on our mySpace-Site.
Further big projects ahead this winter!
We're playing at Jazzfest Berlin and record our first CD in November. In January we will meet up again with The Notwist and rock Munich before we will unite with another partner in February - Junges Ensemble Berlin. This means Andromeda ULTRA Express Orchestra - 100 people going nuts on stage in the Grand Concert Hall in the Berliner Philharmonie!
See you out there!
May 6th, 2008
The new Notwist-Album "The Devil, You & Me" is released! We are featured on a couple of songs and there will be EPs, B-Sides and other specials which will be released in the future where the rest of our collaboration can be heard.
New tour-dates will be announced soon! First of all the Korea-Tour in September which should be fantastic. Also a couple of Jazz-Festivals in Germany have invited us to play... and there are rumors going around, that we will appear with The Notwist somewhere in Europe pretty soon...
We are probably recording our first CD in November 2008. It's going to be a long wait, but we think that this will be the right moment (after all the touring) to put our music into a studio and finally bring out an album...
Anyway, stay tuned - there's always something happening. You can check back to this place or subscribe to our newsletter (rather concert-announcements) by contacting Daniel.
March 5th, 2008
Andromeda is touring in March - Berlin, Pfaffenhofen, München! Some new material and some new band-members. Check it out!
A couple of months later the new album of The Notwist called "The Devil, You & Me" will be released. It was finished in the last few weeks and you can hear Andromeda throughout. There are a couple of videoclips which keep on changing every now and then at www.notwist.com - some of them feature Andromeda, like this one ...
In the next couple of days some new press articles and videos will be available in the media-section.
January 4th, 2008
Happy New Year!
In 2008 Andromeda will be playing regularly in Berlin and for the first time, outside of Berlin. In September we will do a tour in South Korea and record a CD afterwards. Until then you can hear us mostly live and get a glance at our music at mySpace in lo-fi.
Octobre 4th, 2007
We just finished the recording for The Notwist at Teldex-Studios. It was a lot of fun and everybody is happy with the results. Their new album will appear in Spring 2008...
We are preparing our next concert on December 15th at WABE in Berlin. There will be a couple of new compositions and arrangements.
In the next couple of weeks there will be new info-material (text and photos) online as well.
